San Shou literally means "scattering hands"

  • The meaning is to dissipate or otherwise neutralise an attack.

  • Each move in the forms has several self defence applications.

  • Self Defence applications are taught and practised individually.

  • They are practised both on the left side and the right side.

  • They are first practised slowly to gain proficiency and then at full combat speed once a good level of proficiency at that technique has been achieved.
