Sparring

Sparring is essential training to attain the correct mindset for facing the unknown. When learning self-defence applications we always know what the attack is going to be and hence it is much easier to perform the application.

This training encompasses the best and most subtle training methods of the east coupled with the most modern and effective fighting methods currently used in modern MMA combat.

The training is tailored to the skill and fitness levels of the participants and the training on a session is normally tailored about a specific theme designed to overcome a particular weakness or emphasise particular points.

To be able top fight effectively you must train to fight. There is no substitute for fighting experience.

Conditioning training

The use of kettlebells to increase stamina and power. Special stamina and breathing exercises to build breath control while under pressure and enable continuous striking over a long period. Training to be able to absorb blows and withstand attacks.

Striking

Specialist punching and kicking training aiming for speed , power , balance , accuracy and timing. No flash methods here just the tried and tested methods for maximum effect and minimum danger. Including the use of knees, elbows and forearms and the entire body for total striking power.

Mobile padwork is essential to gain the reactions and timing to strike a moving target.

Locks and Holds

Learn the art of Seizing and Locking (Qin Na) to teach the skills of joint locks, chokes and strangles. How to escape and reverse lock attempts and how to prevent ever getting caught. How to use them either on your feet or on the ground.

Stand Up Fighting

Learn the fundamentals of standup fighting attack and defence and how to apply them in sparring and full contact fighting. Concentrating on training to develop footwork, sensitivity, balance, coordination and reaction skills and the ability to read the opponent and disguise your own intent. Striking and controlling the close quarter and clinch situtation.

Grappling

Learn the art of Downing the Opponent (Shaui Jiao), inludes throws,trips, sweeps and grappling methods. Throw counters and take-down prevention methods.

The Five Step Path

The use of the five step path of softness, smoothness, continuity, not resisting force and not losing contact with the opponent to be able to neutralise and control your opponent while grappling on the ground. Learning the key skills to avoid being submitted with locks and chokes.
